Enjoy the tranquillity of the River Monnow

as it meanders through the protected wild meadows, all on your doorstep.
The cottage is a converted bakehouse originally used to
make bread for the village well into the 20th century.
It sits next to The Mill House in a peaceful country garden setting
and overlooks the mill building. Inside, you’ll be welcomed with a basket full of local produce including
bread, butter, eggs, welshcakes
and a choice of wines or local cider.
The flagstone entrance hall has room for boots and coats. Off the hallway are the kitchen and bathroom which are built on the site of the original bread ovens.
The kitchen, which overlooks a private patio, is equipped with a halogen ceramic hob, electric oven, Belfast sink, microwave and fridge/freezer.
The bathroom has WC, wash-basin, shower and washing machine.
The cosy beamed living room overlooks the lovely old-fashioned garden of lawns and herbaceous borders.
Relax on a comfortable sofa in front of the log burning stove and a TV/DVD player.
A selection of books and DVD’s and board games offer alternative entertainment if you decide to stay in. Off the sitting room and overlooking the kitchen garden and old orchard
is a large, bright sunroom with more comfortable seating and another dining table.

for breakfast or a coffee with papers
bought from Hopes, the award-winning
local shop and Post Office (4min walk).
Or an ideal place to simply relax,
watching the energetic garden birds
at their feeders.
Upstairs is a beautiful spacious oak beamed
double aspect bedroom with an ensuite
toilet and washbasin.
We like to ensure the cottage is filled with
seasonal fresh flowers throughout along
with fluffy white towels and complimentary
toiletries. Airing cupboard and further
cupboard space to allows for plenty of
storage. With extra pillows and blankets,
hairdryer and an iron and ironing board.
THE GROUNDS Monnow river cottage is surrounded by well-tended country style gardens and a heritage orchard. Anyone for a spot of croquet? Or simply enjoy 20 acres of protected organic wild flower meadows at your leisure, all on your doorstep.

around the fields, just lovely for picnics or
a spot of quiet reading.
We’ve placed several seating areas for you to relax. Perfect with a glass of wine.
Watch the Kingfishes, Dippers and, if you're lucky, Otters.
Fancy some fishing? The River Monnow
is stocked with wild brown trout.
We have several good deep pools.

LOCATION Longtown lies at the foot of the
Black Mountains. Along the top runs the long
mapsdistance path Offa’s Dyke. It’s in the middle
of unspoilt sheep farming country with miles of
footpaths taking you into beautiful hidden landscapes.
The Monnow, Olchon and Escley rivers
converge at Longtown and the Monnow itself runs past The Mill. There is a Norman castle in the village with a small community garden and a green beside which is an ancient dipping well.
Whether you want a full day’s hiking or a gentle stroll. There are plenty of wonderful walks or cycle routes to suite everyone. From the gentle to the strenuous, all within easy reach from your doorstep. We’ve provided several guidebooks to help you plan your day. And safe areas to store your bikes along with washing facilities.
